Copero positions: choose the role that fits your plan

Compare all ten positions, understand weighted OVR, and see why defenders and goalkeepers are scored differently.

OVR measures your position, not a simple average

Copero uses six shared attributes: pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, and physical. Your overall rating multiplies each attribute by a position-specific weight, adds the results, and rounds the total.

For a striker, shooting contributes forty percent of OVR. For a central midfielder, passing contributes forty percent. Centre backs put fifty-three percent of the weight on defending, while goalkeepers put fifty-six percent there. The full weight table is published on the rules page.

Striker and wingers

ST is the most direct route to a goal-scoring career. Shooting is the primary rating weight, supported by dribbling, physical ability, and pace. Its scoring rate is also higher than the other positions.

LW and RW place greater weight on pace and dribbling. They combine goal involvement with assists, which gives them a different statistical profile from a central striker. The two wing positions use the same starting template in this version; the side is a player preference rather than a hidden advantage.

Attacking, central, and defensive midfielders

CAM puts passing and dribbling at the centre of the role. It has the highest assist rate in the model, but fewer expected goals than a striker. CM spreads its work across passing, control, and a useful defensive contribution.

CDM emphasises defending, physical ability, and distribution. It is a defensive role for legacy scoring: clean sheets matter more than chasing a striker’s goal totals. Choosing a midfielder is a way to try a different career shape, not an automatic difficulty setting.

Full-backs, centre backs, and goalkeeper

LB and RB balance defending with pace and passing. They can assist while contributing to the defensive record. CB puts most rating weight on defending and physical ability, with a much lower expected scoring rate.

GK uses the same six-attribute interface, so defending stands in for positioning and shot prevention, while physical stands in for reach and handling. This is a simplified simulation, not a detailed goalkeeper scouting model. Goalkeepers have no expected goals in the current engine.

Changing position changes what your skills mean

The coach conversation includes an option to explore another role. That choice moves a player into a related position and costs some coach trust while the player adapts. It does not reroll the underlying attributes.

The adjacent-role sequence is fixed: ST to LW, LW to RW, RW to ST; CAM to CM; CM and CDM can switch between each other; LB and RB switch sides; CB can move to CDM. A goalkeeper remains in goal. Contribution scoring uses the position actually played in each season, so a late switch does not rewrite the whole career.
